About

cropped-last-caliph-2.jpg

Pictured above is the last caliph Sultan Abdülmecid Efendi on his way to Friday prayers, 1923.

My name is Abdul Malik and I am a Sunni Muslim who follows the Hanafi madhhab (school of jurisprudence). I have a degree in theology from the University of Birmingham. I have worked as a teacher, journalist, project manager, interpreter, shop assistant and security guard.

This blog will present mainstream Islamic views on the Caliphate, with a focus on recognised classical scholars. Too much of the present day narrative on this subject is voiced by extremist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. We should not allow them to hijack this subject. An understanding of the importance of the Caliphate is vital for all Muslims, especially at a time when it does not exist in the Muslim world. Dear Sirs,

    Thank you for this citation:

but regrettably it is untrue. I have never translated this book.

    1. Wa ‘alaykum salam wa rahmatu’Llah.
Jazakum Allahu Khayra for you kind words of encouragement.
My apologies for giving the unintended impression that you had translated the entire book. This has now been amended.
The translated excerpt I used was from your website here: http://www.bogvaerker.dk/wordpress/?p=206
And if I may could I take the opportunity to wish you and your family an early Eid Mubarak.

      Wassalam
